Volvo Engine Problems

Volvo Engine Problems

Volvo cars are renowned for their safety and dependability. However, like all cars, they have engine trouble and break down from time to time. If yours isnt working, you can try a few simple tests to get it running again.

Check the Battery

Always use caution when working with jumper cables.

If your Volvo engine will not start, the problem could be a dead battery. Batteries can die from reasons ranging from a faulty alternator to leaving the interior light on overnight. If you suspect your battery might be dead, you can either check it with a volt meter or try to jump it using jumper cables and another vehicle.

Check the Gas Level

If jumping the car off doesnt work or you find the battery to be functioning, be sure the car has sufficient fuel in the tank. If the electronics are still functioning normally the fuel gauge should indicate whether or not this is the case. If the gauge doesnt work, check the gas manually or simply add some to the tank and try starting the car.

Call a mechanic

If the battery is functioning and the tank has gas and your car still wont start, it might be time to contact a mechanic. If you cant get the car running at all you may need to call a tow truck or hire a mechanic who will come to check your Volvo. You should be sure to find a mechanic who specializes in imported or Volvo cars.
