How to Tow a Hyundai Elantra

How to Tow a Hyundai Elantra

If you need to have your Elantra towed in an emergency, the manufacturer strongly recommends that you use a professional and authorized towing company, preferably one that is an authorized Hyundai dealer. If this option is unavailable, however, you may need to rig your Elanta to be towed by another vehicle. This can be dangerous if the materials used are not in good working order, but it is otherwise an effective method for short distance towing.

Instructions

    1

Set your ignition switch to the "Acc" position.

    2

Place your shift lever to the Neutral position.

    3

    Release your parking brake.

    4

Fasten the towing cable or chain securely to the towing hook. The front towing hook is located under the grill, centered across the front; the rear towing hook is under the frame, centered across the back. Ensure that your towing hook is not broken or damaged. Use a towing strap that is less than 16 feet long.

    5

Pull the vehicle straight on, not from an angle. Never use this method to pull the vehicle out of mud, sand or snow.
