How to Reset the Engine Service Light on a 2001 Honda Civic

The engine service light will illuminate on your 2001 Honda Civic every 10,000 miles to remind you to perform factory-recommended maintenance such as oil changes and tuneups. After you have the maintenance performed, you can reset the engine service light to turn it off yourself. It is a very quick and easy thing to do, requiring no special tools.

Instructions

Put the key into the ignition, but dont start the vehicle. Locate the trip odometer button on the dashboard, at the bottom of the instrument panel.

Press the trip button and hold it in for 10 seconds.

Keep holding the trip button and turn the ignition key until the Honda starts. The light will reset and turn off. If it doesnt work the first time, start over and try it again. try pushing in the button, turning the key on, waiting 15 seconds, then starting the Civic.
