How do I Reset the Airbag in a 1998 Infiniti I30

How do I Reset the Airbag in a 1998 Infiniti I30?

When your Infiniti I30s diagnostic system detects a malfunction with the vehicle, it issues an error code. The SRS, or Supplemental Restraint System, light illuminates as a result of an error code related to the airbag system. You can disconnect the battery to reset the light but this resets the entire computer, so thats not the best option. Or you can obtain an OBD II scanner from an auto parts store to reset the computer and shut off the SRS light. This is the preferred way and takes just a few minutes of your time. Only reset the airbag after it has been inspected and, if necessary, repaired by a qualified mechanic.

Instructions

    1

Locate the OBD port under the dashboard near the steering column.

    2

Plug the OBD-II scanner into the OBD port, then power on the scanner.

    3

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position.

    4

Wait for the error code to display on the face of the scanner. Select the "Erase" or "Clear" codes command. Wait while the scanner clears the code and returns to the main menu.

    5

Unplug the scanner and start the engine. Verify that the SRS light has shut off of the instrument panel. The airbag is now reset.

How Do I Reset an Airbag in a 2001 Mazda B3000?

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or airbag light on a 2001 Mazda B3000 is designed to alert the driver to malfunctions in the airbag system. The light may illuminate on the instrument panel for reasons unrelated to the airbag, or it may illuminate because of a real problem that needs to be addressed. If you have recently replaced the vehicles battery or installed a new stereo, theres a good chance that the airbag just needs to be reset. Perform the following steps to shut off the light. If the light turns itself back on, then you should take it to a qualified mechanic to have the airbag system examined.

Instructions

    1

Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ACC" position then turn it off again. Do this 10 times quickly but do not start the engine. If this procedure does not reset the SRS light, proceed to Step 2.

    2

Locate the fuse panel cover on the drivers side dashboard. Open the panel by pulling down on the cover from the top by hand. Locate the SRS fuse by referring to the fuse diagram. Pull the fuse out with the fuse puller and examine it to see if it has blown. If it has, replace it. This should reset the light. If not, proceed to Step 3.

    3

Pop the hood on your Mazda B3000 and loosen the bolt on the negative cable clamp with a pair of pliers. Slip the clamp off the negative battery terminal, taking care not to let it touch anything. Wait about 10 minutes then reconnect it to the terminal and tighten the bolt. Close the hood and start the engine. Examine the instrument panel to verify that the SRS light has shut off.

How to Reset an Airbag Light on a VW Transporter

How to Reset an Airbag Light on a VW Transporter

When the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) light illuminates on your Volkswagen Transporter, it indicates a problem with the airbag that should be addressed immediately. If the light is on, it could mean that the airbag will accidentally deploy as you are driving. Or it could mean that the airbag wont deploy at all, even if you get into an accident. You need an SRS scan tool to read the airbag trouble codes and reset the computer. This will turn off the airbag light and enable the VWs airbag to function properly.

Instructions

    1

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Verify that the SRS light is illuminated on the instrument panel either as a solid or flashing light. Turn off the vehicle.

    2

Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) under the steering wheel. Plug the SRS scan tool into this port. The port has 16 pins. Turn the vehicle to the "On" position again.

    3

Wait for the scan tool to display an error code. Look up the code in the scan tools booklet to understand what the code means.

    4

Unplug the SRS scan tool and turn off the vehicle. Fix the problem with the SRS system as identified by the error code.

    5

Repeat step 2 and then enter the error code into the scan tool to reset the VWs computer.

How to Reset the Airbag Sensor on a 745i

The 745i is BMWs flagship sedan, carrying the most technologically advanced computer system that BMW has to offer. The 745i, like many other BMW vehicles, contains a vast network of sensors and computers that continually monitor the performance of various vehicle systems. The airbag system in a 745i is no exception to this rule, and has a dedicated standalone computer designed to operate and monitor the airbag system. When this computer detects a fault with the airbag sensor, it writes a trouble code to its memory and alerts the driver by turning on the Service Airbag light.
