How to Replace Jeep Liberty Tail Lights
The tail lights on the Jeep Liberty are enclosed in a plastic assembly with the bulbs mounted inside. To access the bulbs, you must first remove the assembly from the Jeep, but you can remove it in a few minutes with basic hand tools. The bulbs used in the tail light are standard 3057 bulbs, available at any auto parts store. These bulbs have a dual filament so they operate both the brake and tail lights.

Open the lift gate of your Jeep and locate the retaining screws along the inner edge of the tail light assembly. Remove the screws with a socket and ratchet and set them aside.
2Separate the tail light assembly from the rear of the Jeep and locate the electrical connector on the rear of the assembly. Depress the locking tab and pull the connector away from the tail light back plate.
3Remove the two screws that hold the back plate to the tail light assembly with a Phillips head screwdriver then separate the back plate from the tail light. Grasp the bulb and pull it straight out of the back plate. Discard it.
4Install a new 3057 bulb into the back plate, pushing it in until it seats firmly in the socket. Install the back plate on the rear of the tail light assembly then install the two retaining screws and tighten them with the Phillips head screwdriver.
5Position the tail light assembly on the rear of the Jeep, install the retaining screws and tighten them with a socket and ratchet. Do not over-tighten these screws or you will crack the plastic assembly. Close the lift gate and test the light by turning on the head light switch.

How to Change Jeep Liberty Oxygen Sensors
The modern car or truck has lots of sensors to tell the vehicles computer how the engine is running, and tune accordingly. One of these is the oxygen or O2 sensor, which detects the amount of oxygen in the vehicles exhaust system and adjusts the fuel/air ration at the heads accordingly. If these sensors go out, youll see a "check engine" light on your dash until theyre replaced, and your Jeep Liberty will run sluggishly. This isnt a fun job, but it can be done in about an hour with the right tools.

Lift up the vehicle using the jack and place it on jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is secure before you crawl underneath it.
2Locate the O2 sensors on the exhaust. Theyre about 2 inches long, and have a wire pigtail sticking out of the end. These are also the only sensors on the exhaust, and the only wiring thats near the exhaust at all.
3Unplug the O2 sensor from the vehicle wiring harness using your hands.
4Remove the O2 sensor using the 3/8-inch ratchet and the oxygen sensor socket. Then thread the replacement O2 sensor in place and tighten it down using the 3/8-inch ratchet and the oxygen sensor socket.
5Plug the O2 sensor back into the stock harness using your hands. Repeat the process for the other O2 sensors in the exhaust, then lift the vehicle back up and remove the jack stands using the jack.
